Antonio Rubio, Director of the Universidad Internacional de Extremadura (UNINDE), is confident that this ambitious educational project will play a crucial role in retaining local talent and expanding higher education opportunities in the region.
With ten undergraduate programs and seven master's degrees, UNINDE aims to welcome 400 students annually, with its main campus in Badajoz. The project is currently under review by the regional government of Extremadura and awaits approval from both the Consultative Council and the Extremadura Assembly.
Diverse Academic Offerings for a Competitive Future
UNINDE’s programs will cover a wide range of high-demand fields:
- Social Sciences and Law. Undergraduate degrees in Entrepreneurship and Digital Business, Digital Marketing, Finance and Management Control, International Business and Economic Relations, and Graphic and Product Design. Master's programs will include an MBA, Leadership and Management of Educational Centers, Management of Agri-food Businesses, Digital Business Management, and Business Intelligence & Data Analysis.
Rubio highlights that while there are 39 private universities across Spain, Extremadura currently lacks similar educational options. UNINDE aims to expand educational opportunities with high-demand degrees that have strong career prospects.
Statistics show that in fields such as Nursing, only one out of every four applicants secures a spot, forcing many to seek options outside the region. As a result, the university hopes to curb talent loss by offering an academic curriculum tailored to new needs and providing personalized attention.
UNINDE also has the support of healthcare institutions, such as the Quirónsalud hospital group and Casa Verde centers, ensuring quality education for its students.
The goal is not only to retain local talent but also to attract students from other regions with its innovative and appealing programs. With this project, Extremadura will join the group of autonomous communities with private universities, complementing the public offerings without directly competing with existing degrees.
